Today we are highlighting Hannah O’Rourke, PT, DPT, a Marquette Model instructor. Hannah is a transplant to St. Louis who loves being outside. She has visited 25 nationals parks and makes it a life goal to visit them all some day. She recently celebrated her second wedding anniversary with her husband, Sean. Please tell us a little about yourself.
Hello, I am Hannah O’Rourke; I am married to my husband, Sean. We celebrated two years of marriage in June 2023. I enjoy exercising, being outside, going for hikes, and making pottery. I also love harvesting fresh vegetables from our garden in the summer. I love traveling to national parks and hope to go to all the parks in my lifetime. My favorite national park so far has been Acadia National Park in Maine.
Are you originally from St. Louis?
I grew up in Bloomington, Indiana. I currently belong to Mary, Queen of Peace Parish in Webster Groves.
What is your professional background? Where did you go to school?
I did my undergraduate studies in Exercise Science at Florida State University. I attended Washington University in St. Louis for my Doctor of Physical Therapy. I am a Physical Therapist with a focus in Geriatrics and I now work in an administrative role at a hospital.
How did you first learn about Natural Family Planning (NFP)?
I first learned about NFP in college in a women’s group. I continued to learn more as I had a friend who began practicing NFP in preparation for marriage.
What made you want to pursue a career as an instructor in NFP?
After learning the Marquette Model of NFP in marriage preparation class and practicing it within my marriage, I was amazed by how much I learned about my fertility and the beauty, gift, and fruits of NFP within my marriage. I was so passionate about sharing this good news with other people that I pursued training as a Marquette Model NFP instructor.
How many years have you been involved in NFP? How did you become involved with your method? Where do you teach clients?
I started teaching NFP in February 2023. I teach Marquette Model and became involved with this method from personal experience using Marquette. I teach at Mary, Queen of Peace Parish in Webster Groves and virtually as needed.
What aspect of NFP most speaks to your heart?
My passion is to help women, men, and couples grow in understanding of their fertility and embrace their fertility to live out their faith.
What are your hopes for your clients? Your career?
My hopes for my clients are that they may grow in understanding of their fertility and the gift of their fertility. I hope for my clients to use this information to grow in their faith and in their marriage. Since I just started teaching, I am very excited about the opportunities to walk with people in various phases of their life and fertility.
